Dear Stamping Friends,
I am sorry that I have not written in while, I had to drive home to Texas to say goodbye to my dear friend Melissa. Melissa and I both went through chemo together. I meet her long before that time at a scrapbook store; we became friends because of stamping and scrapbooking. She was part of one of my clubs in Texas and was always a ray of sunshine. She beat breast cancer, but it came back in her bones and she lost that battle.
It was hard seeing her that way; it was hard saying good-bye to her. I am not a fan of funerals, but at her funeral we got to share memories of her and that made us laugh in the midst of tears. I shared a story about her getting me to shop on QVC and my love of her chicken salad; Melissa made the best chicken salad I have ever tasted. It was great hearing everyone share wonderful memories of Melissa.
Her preacher said to live “NOW”—No Opportunity Wasted. Even when she was dealing with the bad stuff, when she felt good enough she asked to go to the lake or camping, something to build memories with her husband. The preacher said we needed to live like that, to go to the pearly gates with no regret. I have always said I would like to skid up to the pearly gates in a fast car and say “Now that was fun!” The preacher also said to forgive, truly forgive, forgiving and not forgetting is not forgiving, and you will carry that bitterness with you.
This really made me think that we have to forgive, we can’t hold onto anger or hurts from long ago. We have to let go of past hurts and move onto live in the present. When you hold onto past hurts or what you see as wrong doings it can fester and spill over into your present life. Live in the NOW!
I hope you do not mind that I shared from my heart!
ME Bluett Melissa
