Bokeh is a term used in photography, the aesthetic quality of the blur produced in the out-of-focus parts of an image produced by a lens. Stampers have started using it for their cards and it is a lovely technique. There are a couple of different versions out there, but I wanted to share an easy version with you. I saw several versions of this card on pinterest and mashed up a couple to come up with my own version. The main inspiration came from Dawn Olchefske, and a little mash of Lee Conrey.
Paper: Whisper White 100730, Blackberry Bliss 133675, Lost Lagoon 133679 Ink: Whisper White Craft Ink 101731, Blackberry Bliss 133642, Lost Lagoon 133644 Misc: Sponge Daubers 133773, Rhinestone Jewels 119246, Decorative Label Punch 120907 Stamps: I was naughty and used two retired stamps, one for Mom’s Day and one for Happy Birthday.
The card base is Whisper White cut to make a standard 5 ½ x 4 ½ card. The Blackberry Bliss is cut 4 ¾ x 3 ½ and the other Whisper White piece is cut 4 ½ x 3 1/4 . Using your sponge daubers ink one in Blackberry Bliss and ink as you like onto your smaller Whisper White CS…every time you do this card it will turn out different, you can go light or you can go darker it is all up to you and what you want. Next, cover remaining part of the Whisper White piece you just did the Blackberry Bliss on. Let it dry, I suggest you use the embossing tool to dry it quickly. Now you will need a circle template. I cut circles in a small piece of cardstock to use as a template. You move it all around your inked piece of cardstock and it is okay to overlap the circles if you like. You want to ink your sponge dauber in the Whisper White ink and ink inside our circles you want to rub or blend it out so it is subtle. If you desire darker white circles you can do that…you can make it your very own. Make as many circles as you like, until your heart is happy. Check out pinterest there are many version of the Bokeh cards out there. Now use the embossing tool to dry your card again. Now use your jewels and place them on the card in various places to give it a little POP. Stamp your greeting on your scrap of Whisper White Cardstock, punch it out, and use one dimensional to pop it up on the front of your cardstock. Mount your Bokeh CS to the Blackberry Bliss CS, and then center it on your card base and adhere it.
